11 Days Rwanda Safari Adventure
11 Days Rwanda Safari takes you to all three of Rwanda's parks plus tours to Lake Kivu and the Genocide memorial sites- Trip highlights include gorilla trekking in the Virungas, game drives in Akagera plus chimp tracking in Nyungwe forest.
Day 1: Arrival
Our driver guide will pick you up on arrival at Kanombe airport and transfer you to your booked hotel in Kigali city. Accommodation at Kigali Serena(luxury)/ Hotel chez lando (Medium range)/ Beausejour guest house (Budget)
Day 2: Drive to Nyungwe national park
Drive to Nyungwe forest after breakfast with a lunch stop over enroute. Arrive at your chosen hotel for a sumptuous dinner before tomorrow’s primate walk.Dinner and overnight stay at Nyungwe Forest lodge(luxury) / Gisakura guest house (Budget)
Day 3: Primate walk
Enter the forest in the company of a trained guide and experience Nyungwe’s primate life. You may sight the chimpanzees, silver monkey Angolan colobus and many more.Dinner and overnight stay at lodge/ camp
Day 4 & 5: Drive to Gisenyi
The Rwanda safari continues with a transfer to Lake Kivu located in Gisenyi town. Stop over for lunch enroute arriving at the shores of Lake Kivu in time for dinner. The next day is spent indulging in beach activities as you look forward to your gorilla trekking safari. You can even hire a speed boat and explore the nearby island. Accommodation at Kivu Serena (luxury)/ Kivu sun (midrange)/ Bethanie guest house (budget)
Day 6: Transfer to Ruhengeri
Embark on the long drive to Ruhengeri which entails a lunch stop over enroute and arrival at your destination in the evening. Dinner and overnight stay at Mountain Gorilla view Lodge(luxury)/ La Palme hotel (Medium range)/ Muhabura hotel (Budget)
Day 7: Mountain Gorilla Trekking
Embark on gorilla tracking adventure in the morning in the company of park guides. It may last between 2- 4 hours depending on the location of the gorillas , you will be given a hour in their midst to take pictures and observe them as they feed and play. Return to lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 8: Golden monkey tracking/visit the Karisoke research centre
This day avails 2 alternative activities to choose from. You can choose to track the rare golden monkey or alternatively visit Dian Fossey’s grave. Accommodation at Kigali Serena(luxury)/ Hotel chez lando (Medium range)/ Beausejour guest house (Budget)
Day 9: Genocide memorial visit
Our experience of the land of a thousand hills begins with our visit to Gisozi genocide memorial. An onsite guide tells emotional stories behind the enormous mass graves and preserved remains. Leave the memorial, and transfer to Kigali from where you will depart for Akagera national park tomorrow. Dinner and overnight stay at lodge
Day 10: Akagera national park and boat ride
Have a 2.5 hour drive to Akagera national park after breakfast at your hotel in Kigali. Settle into your lodge after which you will have lunch. Have a boat ride on Lake Ihema after lunch with possible sights of kingfishers, African fish eagle, hippo, crocs and many more. Dinner and overnight stay at Akagera Game Lodge / Dereva hotel
Day 11: Game drive and departure
Pre-breakfast game drive may avail opportunities to sight buffaloes, antelopes, topi, zebras and many more. After breakfast at your lodge exit the park proceeding to Kigali from where you will board your home flight.
