The birth of twins in Uganda is held in high regard with special names given to twins and their parents in different tribes. In the west boys will be named Kakuru or Kato and girls, Nyakato or Nyangoma based on birth order. In central we have Babirye, Nakato, Wasswa and Kato. In the north we have Opio and Odong for the boys and Apio and Adong for the girls. Their parents will be called Salongo(father of twins) and Nalongo(mother of twins). The twins festival this time round was well attended with triplets and quadruplets attending as well. Gifts were awarded to the best dressed female, best dressed male, eldest twins and lots more. There were lots of fun activities like bouncing castles and play areas for the children, camel rides, photo booths and lots to eat and drink at the festival which was held at Kyadondo rugby grounds this year. This event has been identified as potential for promotion of domestic tourism in Uganda.
