What should I wear for gorilla trekking?
Wear long pants and long-sleeved shirts to protect against stinging nettles, sturdy waterproof hiking boots, a rain jacket, gardening gloves, and a hat. Bring a walking stick (usually provided) and plenty of water.
What is the minimum age for gorilla trekking?
The minimum age for gorilla trekking is 15 years old. This is strictly enforced to protect both the gorillas and ensure trekkers can handle the physical demands of the activity.
What vaccinations do I need?
Yellow fever vaccination is mandatory and you must carry your certificate. Other recommended vaccinations include Hepatitis A & B, Typhoid, and routine vaccines. Malaria prophylaxis is recommended. Consult your doctor at least 6 weeks before travel.
What payment methods do you accept?
We accept credit/debit cards (Visa and Mastercard), bank transfers, and mobile money. We support multiple currencies including USD, UGX, KES, TZS, and RWF.
How do I book a safari?
You can book directly through our website, send us an inquiry via email, or contact us via WhatsApp. We’ll discuss your preferences and create a customized itinerary. Once confirmed, we’ll send you a detailed booking confirmation.
What is your cancellation policy?
Cancellations made 60+ days before departure receive a full refund minus a 10% processing fee. Cancellations 30-59 days before receive 50% refund. Cancellations less than 30 days before are non-refundable. Gorilla permits are non-refundable once purchased.
Do I need to pay a deposit?
Yes, we require a 30% deposit to confirm your booking. The remaining balance is due 30 days before your safari departure date. For last-minute bookings, full payment may be required.
Is travel insurance required?
While not mandatory, we strongly recommend comprehensive travel insurance covering medical emergencies, trip cancellation, and emergency evacuation. Some activities like gorilla trekking may require specific coverage.
How difficult is gorilla trekking?
Gorilla trekking difficulty varies from moderate to challenging. Treks can last 2-8 hours depending on gorilla location. The terrain is steep and can be muddy. A reasonable level of fitness is required, but the experience is worth every step!
How much does a gorilla trekking permit cost?
A gorilla trekking permit in Uganda costs $800 for foreign non-residents, $700 for foreign residents, and UGX 300,000 for East African citizens. Permits should be booked well in advance as they are limited and in high demand.
